Manifiesto de los escritores mexicanos presentes en la XIX Semana Negra de Gijón

Reunidos en la Semana Negra, los escritores mexicanos han difundido el siguiente comunicado:

MANIFIESTO DE LOS ESCRITORES MEXICANOS PRESENTES EN LA XIX SEMANA NEGRA DE GIJÓN

Los escritores mexicanos participantes en la XIX Semana Negra, en Gijón, España, exigimos la inmediata liberación de los hermanos Antonio y Héctor Cerezo Contreras y del coacusado Pablo Alvarado Flores, quienes han sido objeto de un proceso judicial plagado de irregularidades, demostrándose con ello el uso político de las leyes en México, ya que además en todo instante han sido violados sus derechos humanos, siendo recluidos en cárceles de máxima seguridad, incomunicados y recibiendo todo tipo de torturas psicológicas.

De igual manera, demandamos al poder legislativo la promulgación de la ley federal de amnistía, propuesta desde hace ya dos años, la cual se ha mantenido en la indiferencia.

MEXICAN WRITERS’ MANIFESTO FROM THE XIX SEMANA NEGRA DE GIJÓN

Mexican writers who participated in the XIX Semana Negra (19th Black Week) at Gijón, Spain, have published a manifesto in which they demand immediate freedom for the Cerezo brothers —Antonio and Héctor—, charged with various bombings along with a third brother, Alejandro, and two other people. However, the judicial process leading to their conviction and sentencing was full of glaring errors, false testimonies, and unsubstantiated information, given that the so-called bombs turned out to be firecrackers and that there was no evidence that the defendants all participated. Those arrested have been held incommunicado in maximum security prisons alongside drug traffickers and murderers. Only one of the Cerezo brothers, Alejandro, was released three years later and was recently present at the reading of the manifesto in Gijón.

Gathered together during Semana Negra, Mexican writers issued the following statement:

The Mexican writers who are participants in the XIX Semana Negra at Gijón, Spain, demand the immediate freedom of the Cerezo Contreras brothers-Antonio and Héctor—and their codefendant Pablo Alvarado Flores, who have been the object of a judicial process plagued with irregularities, thereby demonstrating the political use of laws in Mexico. Moreover, their human rights have been constantly violated, as they have been held incommunicado in maximum security prisons where they have been subjected to all kinds of psychological torture.

We also demand that the Legislative Branch promulgate the federal amnesty law, proposed two years ago yet mired in indifference.
